based off of the shape of your face.
- Round Face
- square face
- Oval Face
- Long Face
- Heart Face
If you have a round face, keep hair length below your chin, and maintain texture at the sides. Contouring the face with bronzer at the temples and jaw line is flattering to a round face shape. Color – keep soft, highlighted around the face. Harsh dark colors will accentuate a rounder face.
For a square face, incorporating an angle in the haircut is great. Doing side swept fringe would look good but avoid having blunt cuts, they accentuate the angles of the face and make it look harsher. Waves and curls also help to soften square lines.
Dramatic eye make-up can draw the focus upward to even out a square jaw line. Color – Darker colors recede, therefore if you’re self conscious about a square jaw, the color that frames your face should be kept on the lighter side.
The most versatile facial shape is oval, because any haircut can be flattering. It can often be mistaken for a round face, but an oval face is narrower at the cheeks than a round face. Most haircuts and styles work with an oval shape. Color – Be daring and play with your color!
Long facial shapes, look awesome with bangs and lots of volume! Stay away from super-long straight strands; they elongate.
Adding bronzer to the forehead and chin can help to even out an elongated shape. Color – darker depth on the ends are best as lighter strands disappear. Diagonal color patterns will also create softness.
A heart facial shape, looks good with long layers and bangs. Shy away from short bobs; they overemphasize the chin. Color – darker interior color with an overlay of lighter is the best. The darker helps to balance the weak jawline.
Placement of lighter and darker colors can add dimension and help to compliment various face shapes.
